Carbon Reporting by Cubewise

ECOwise is a Greenhouse Gas reporting tool with a difference. Yes, it will deliver the soon to be mandatory reporting requirement under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Act*, but it can, and does, deliver much more. ECOwise not only provides the static reporting but allows you to model and conduct ‘What-If’ analysis on your abatement projects thus allowing you to know, with a high level of accuracy, the success rate of the project even before you break ground.
This ‘Future Proofing’ of abatement projects is the most valuable tool a company can have when the ‘Cap & Trade’ system comes into play. Under the Cap & Trade system industries will be allocated a Carbon cap and each company will have to meet Carbon Reporting by Cubewise that cap, which will be a decreasing Carbon value over time. If Australian companies don’t meet this cap value through their abatement of Carbon they will be required to buy Carbon credits on the Cap & Trade system.
Carbon is becoming a new world monetary value and EcoWise can deliver the power of the IBM/Cognos TM1 modeling platform to assist your company in reducing not only your Carbon footprint but also the cost of this endeavor.

Why Report on Your Carbon?
Do you know your obligations under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Act?
With the onset of climate change occurring on our planet, governments are taking steps to attempt to curb the effect on their economies. In late 2007 Australia enacted a piece of legislation called the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Act in preparation for a full Carbon reporting requirement. At its completion in fiscal 2011 this Act will give a snap shot to the Government of what Australia's Carbon foot print is in reality, not conjecture or guess work. If, and when, passed by both houses of parliament, going forward with a Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) and an Emissions Trading System (ETS is virtually the Cap & Trade system), the NGER Act will be replaced by the CPRS/ETS system to be established in 2011-2012.

How do you utilise technology for Carbon Reporting?
By now you would probably know your requirement to report your CO2 expenditure under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Act 2007. If not, maybe you would like to read the previous document in this series, "Why report on your Carbon (Australia)".
NGER is Australia's way to understand its Carbon footprint as a country, but there are other issues that we will cover later in this document. So, if you understand the NGER requirement, and you are obligated to compulsorily report on your Carbon expenditure and/or generation how do you meet this requirement without turning your company head on its heels?
The requirement under NGER is relatively simple, but can be easily become confusing. Click here to look at the process in full and download the complete article.
